There's Living History, Then There's Bad Guys And Gals

In addition to the living history aspect of Beckwourth Frontier Days, the festival is going just a little Hollywood. Festival organizers know that the gunplay popularized in American westerns throughout the 20th century was not always an accurate depiction of the American west.

But the appeal of the image of the cowboy and his horse and his sidearm is just too strong. Cowboy gunfight demonstrations and competitions are popular attractions to events throughout the United States, and Beckwourth Frontier Days is playing host to gunfighting teams competing for prizes this year.

Competition will occur at regular intervals throughout the day in downtown Marysville.
